2012: A Year in Review

2012 was a great year to be a Girl Scout! We celebrated a century of leadership, friendship and fun. Our Council hosted several exciting events and programs for Girl Scouts of all levels.

Many talented Girl Scouts and troops participated in the DC Step Showcase, and several museums in Washington, DC hosted Girl Scouts including Girl Scout Day at the Newseum and the Air and Space Museum.

Girl Scouts visited a number of camps throughout the year. From spring break camps to summer day and evening and sleep-away camp, girls enjoyed the outdoors and fun with their fellow Girl Scouts.

Our Council also held several notable leadership conferences, including Your Turn to Lead, Encuentro de Chicas Latinas and Keys to Leadership.

And of course, who could forget our 100th Anniversary celebration, Girl Scouts Rock the Mall?! Our Council hosted the largest gathering of Girl Scouts in the history of our movement.

October 1, 2012 marked the start of the new Girl Scout year. Many troops have already participated in many exciting events, including Girl Scout Day at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and Girl Scout Day at the State Department. And soaring into the New Year, troops are ready to launch the Girl Scout Cookie sale!

Let’s make 2013 even better!
