From Trash to Treasure: Making “Plarn” with Troop 6730

Using resources wisely: It’s the Girl Scout way!

Girl Scout Troop 6730 from Falls Church, Virginia is giving new life to plastic bags by making “plarn,” or plastic yarn, which can be used to create bags, shoes and more. These Girl Scout Seniors aren’t the only ones getting in on the plarn fun: Kathy Albarado, President and CEO of Helios HR and a member of our board, loved the idea so much she purchased 50 plarn bottle holders to share with girls in Honduras through the Honduras Women Leadership Center.

The girls also received an instructional guide and plarn starter kits, courtesy of Troop 6730.
