Tuesday, October 11 marks the fourth annual International Day of the Girl Child, which highlights the global fight for education and equality for girls worldwide. On the very first International Day of the Girl in 2012, Girl Scouts from our Council were on hand at the State Department to celebrate with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
This Tuesday, teen Girl Scouts are invited to celebrate by participating in a Twitter storm, held by the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. Log on to Twitter at 4:00 PM and follow the conversation using #SheWillBeDC and #DayoftheGirl. Girl Scouts are invited to answer questions surrounding the hopes, dreams and challenges facing young women in Washington, DC.
