I had an absolutely incredible time as a Congressional Aide on Capitol Hill. It happened to be the last week that Congress was in session before the summer recess, so I was fortunate to have an exciting and action-packed experience. Working in the office of Representative Dwight Evans of Philadelphia, I had the opportunity to attend a committee hearing on cybersecurity for small business and take notes at a briefing about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria.
Although those two activities were the highlights, I also enjoyed my day-to-day tasks that mainly involved answering and logging constituent phone calls and emails. Every day there seemed to be a new issue that was especially important to the district, and I very much enjoyed having the opportunity to stay informed on these topics. My experience was overwhelmingly positive; the entire staff was so welcoming, being surrounded by so much political action taught me so much, and I made some lasting connections with others who share my political passion.
